The best healthy lifestyle hacks, in my opinion:
- All it takes is one small change, daily. Swap out that microwave burrito for a crisp salad. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, today. Tomorrow, switch out one cup of coffee for a tall glass of water.
- Make time for you. I never realized how much I needed “me time” until I started regularly practicing yoga. Now, every few days, my joints start creaking, and I tell Hubby I’ll need an extra 30 minutes to myself when I get home, so I can work out the kinks. I always feel extra rejuvenated; and I feel like I get brownie points for doing it because I wanted to, not because I had to burn calories.
- Eat more plants! They’re good, and good for you. If you don’t like fruits and vegetables, it’s because you aren’t preparing them correctly. There is a whole world of squash, and eggplant, and sweet potatoes, and raspberries, and….I’m drooling.
- Remember that your health cannot be destroyed in a day. What you do today doesn’t matter; what you do this week, this month, even this year: That matters.
Nor can it be restored in a single day. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It takes time, it takes diligence, and it takes patience. But you can cultivate a healthy, enjoyable lifestyle that suits you.
