Lifestyle hack = less need (if there ever was one) for statins!

How does having more muscle help with fat burning?
In one study, bodybuilders were found to burn 354% more calories than people with less muscle (while not working out). Meaning that when sitting down and watching Netflix, people with more muscle are burning over 350% more calories than people with less.
What about doing cardio for keeping off and burning fat? A 12 year study of 10,000 men found that lifting weights was superior for burning fat.
And what if you don’t want to be all muscular?
Trust me, elderly people are not going to get jacked in 16 weeks of weight training.
Reason #2: Muscle Building Will Make You Feel Better About Yourself
Muscle Building can benefit your psychological health. And that’s not some hippy crap. It’s backed by research.
Reason #3: Having More Muscle Will Help You Live Longer
I probably don’t need to tell you why not being overweight is a healthy thing. But just so you understand the gravity of obesity, the likelihood of developing the following diseases skyrocket when a person becomes over weight,
  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Heart Disease
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
Having more muscle makes becoming obese VERY difficult (like I said on #1), therefore it helps protect against these diseases.
But, my previous statement is an assumption based on available evidence. I don’t really like making assumptions. I like evidence itself. So, are there any studies that DIRECTLY examine the link between longevity and muscle building?
You bet your sweet ass there are.
Also, for older people, not having enough muscle mass can lead to severe physical impairment and death. Starting to build muscle in your younger days is the best way to combat that.
