You want to lower cholesterol? (From a Facebook post)

For those people who want to contol their cholesterol because of other health reasons, and cannot take statins:
This mix started out as help for leg cramps caused by statin use, then added stuff for painful joints and muscles also caused by statin use, and after stopping statins discovered it controlled my cholesterol. Genetic high lipids.
  • Half teaspoon Cream of Tartar.
  • Half teaspoon Citric Acid.
  • Half teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda.
  • Quarter teaspoon Epsom Salts.

Dissolve Cream of Tartar in a little boiling water.

Mix Citric Acid, Bicarbonate of Soda, and Epsom Salts with a little cold water in a 1 litre container.

After fizzing stops, add dissolved Cream of Tartar.

Add more cold water to make 500 ml, pour in a bottle.

500 ml is a convenient mix for me, but you can use less.

Shake well and drink throughout the day. If you have a sensitive stomach, divide in equal parts and take with your meals.

Cream of Tartar = potassium. Helps leg cramps. Helps lower blood pressure. Anti-inflammatory. Helps clean/clear blood vessels. Binds with fats and enables body to convert fats to energy. May lower blood sugar. Helps the body get rid of uric acid. (Uric acid forms crystals on the joints which slowly grinds the joints down and cause permanent damage - also a statin side effect. Raises alkalinity in the body.
Citric Acid. Helps lower blood pressure. Anti-inflammatory. Helps clean/clear blood vessels. Binds with fats and convert them to energy. Rids the body of excess uric acid. Rids the body of excess calcium. May block fructose absorption. Raises alkalinity in the body.
Bicarbonate of Soda. Helps with leg cramps. May help clear blood vessels. Helps clear uric acid. Raises alkalinity in body. ** Use with care (or skip) if you have high blood pressure or follow a low sodium diet.
Epsom Salts = magnesium sulphate. Helps with leg cramps. Helps calcium go to the bones instead of floating around in the blood. Helps lower blood pressure. May help with constipation caused by statin use.
Google these substances and you will find a lot of information on how they work in the body.
Another mix that lowers cholesterol, but unfortunately also lowers blood sugar. I can't use it, but it works well for two family members.
  • 500 ml Rooibos tea.
  • 30 ml Honey
  • 15 ml Cinnamon

Mix and drink a cup every night before bed.
Tryglicerides:
Flaxseed thins blood and lowers tryglicerides/blood sugar.
It contains omega 3 and 6 and 9.
Omega 9 is very important for brain health (according to specialist that treated my husband's brain tumours).
If you don't like the oil form, sprinkle ground flaxseed over your food. (Ground/milled, looks like a coarse brownish flour)
Flaxseed OIL helps for dry eyes caused by statin use, drink in capsule form.
Cinnamon lowers blood sugar and tryglicerides.
For some people Co Q10 also lowers blood sugar (for me to the point of fainting).
Statin 'nightmares':
A decent vitamin B Complex really helps when taken at bed time. The cheap 10 cents kind has no effect.
You will also notice less hairloss because of statin use with a decent B Complex.
Statin/Aspirin:
In my country, heart patients are put on a statin and daily baby aspirin. If you stop your statin make sure you take that daily aspirin.
After my father's bypass surgery, his cardiologist told him that the asprin keeps the bypass scars soft and supple so that plaque won't get 'stuck' at the joint.
(A 70 year old neighbour had a heart attack when undergoing sugery for a broken thigh bone. Heart attack was caused by plaque which broke loose from his bypass scars while under anaesthetic - he stopped his statins and took no aspirin after his bypass)
