"A study out of Loma University in the USA, funded by the National Cancer Institute reported that vegans have lower rates of cancer than both meat-eaters and vegetarians." This study ignored all other lifestyle patterns including sleep, exercise, stress as well as education and pollution. It is not possible to isolate the diet in the way the study purports to do.
"Similarly in Japan, a review of 39 studies that included almost 22,000 people found that vegetarians had substantially lower blood pressure than people who ate meat, leading the authors to suggest that following a vegetarian diet could reduce a person's risk of heart attack by 9 percent and the risk stroke by 14 percent if sustained over time" - the authors stressed these were preliminary studies only.
" A vegan diet is recommended for lowering, controlling and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels." Really? https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/02/160211083044.htm and https://health.clevelandclinic.org/2015/02/why-you-should-no-longer-worry-about-cholesterol-in-food/
No mention of: http://www.nhs.uk/news/2016/06June/Pages/Study-say-theres-no-link-between-cholesterol-and-heart-disease.aspx
"A vegan diet can be beneficial in preventing and reversing cardiovascular disease." - more nonsense from this review. No diet has ever been proved to actually reverse heart disease - even Esselstyn never did it. Interesting that the reviewer chose not to link to any study about this....as there aren't any!
"The study concluded that a vegan diet was the healthiest for nutritional intake, nutritional quality, and body weight.(49)Bottom Line: Vegan food is healthier and provides better nutrition."
This was actually quite funny. Firstly the study 'inked' to is NOT FOUND. Secondly there are numerous benefits of honey that, of course, vegans cannot eat. So, by definition, a vegan diet plus honey has to be more beneficial than just a vegan diet!!
"Strokes are the fourth leading cause of death in the United States, and kill around 130,000 Americans every year.(61)"
More nonsense. This sloppily written article did not bother to check for more accurate data: http://www.strokecenter.org/patients/about-stroke/stroke-statistics/
"The cholesterol and saturated fats present in animal products can clog the arteries supplying blood to the brain, which, in turn can lead to strokes."

" vegetarian diet is the only lifestyle change that can consistently reverse the hardening of the arteries that cause strokes, and reduce cholesterol at the same time." - no link given because it is untrue!
"A Vegan diet protects the brain by preventing strokes and maintaining healthy arteries."
What naivety! Strokes can be caused by sleeping pills, stress, alcohol, being overweight etc. A vegan diet may reduce the risk, yes but not prevent!
