Background: Predictors of stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) are poorly understood.
Methods: Using data from EUCLID, which compared ticagrelor vs clopidogrel for the prevention of major adverse CV events (ischemic stroke, MI, CV death) in patients with PAD, we aimed to determine the incidence of ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke and TIA, evaluate the effect of ticagrelor vs clopidogrel on the ischemic stroke endpoint, and identify predictors of stroke. Post hoc multivariable Cox proportional hazards analysis was performed using baseline characteristics to build a predictive model for stroke.
